Just after Thanksgiving last year I met a family that puts up a Thankfulness Tree in the fall.  As part of their family tradition, they write what they are thankful for on cards and tie them to the tree all season long.

I was so inspired by their idea, I decided to incorporate thankfulness into my holiday tree decorating.  As I hang ornaments I say out loud:  I am so thankful for my beautiful Douglas fir tree, I’m so thankful for a warm comfortable home. I’m so thankful for family and friends. As I do that, I findI am smiling, and my heart is warm and full of love.

Perhaps you and your family have a thankful practice already or you may want to create one.
